Dolphins reportedly considered Tim Tebow, Kyle Orton before signing Cutler

Everyone knew the Dolphins were desperate to find a preseason solution to their quarterback problem, which cropped up quickly after Ryan Tannehillsuffered what could ultimately be a season-ending knee injury during practice Thursday. The Dolphins acted quickly, reaching out to Jay Cutler and persisting to get him to help bail out his old buddy Adam Gase. Cutler is expected to sign a one-year deal worth a reported $10 million.

But Cutler wasn’t the only candidate for the gig, according to a report from Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. Salguero reported on Sunday afternoon that Colin Kaepernick was also one of the quarterbacks the Dolphins considered, which should come as no surprise considering the chatter about Kap for every job involving an injured quarterback.

A name that will come as a surprise however: TIMOTHY RICHARD TEBOW.

Among QB names Dolphins considered before discarding for multiple reasons in favor of Cutler: Kaepernick, Tebow, Orton.

There’s actually some logic to the idea, even though signing a Mets Triple-A outfielder to be your starting quarterback for the upcoming NFL season would be an all-time headscratcher. It doesn’t pass the “say it out loud” test, at all.

Tebow has worked with Gase before as well, however. Gase was Tebow’s quarterbacks coach in Denver back when Tebow and the Broncosmiraculously stormed their way to a postseason win over the Steelers. Yes, it does feel like a million lifetimes ago.

Tebow hasn’t thrown a pass in the NFL since 2012. Ultimately there are just better options out there.

Same goes with Orton, who has been removed from football for a while. If Cutler was willing to play, it was a no brainer. But obviously the Dolphins were going to examine some other possible options.

It just so happens that their initial choices involved a current minor league baseball player.

Kyle Orton

Here’s one that should keep everyone up at night…

FAKE NEWS will ultimately destroy everyone’s ability to participate meaningfully in Democracy.

…and it doesn’t matter whether the culprits are the Democrats, the Republicans, or an adversarial Foreign Power.

IT IS NOW AN ACCEPTED and PROVEN STRATEGY FOR INFLUENCING and steering AN ELECTION TO A DESIRED OUTCOME

    WELL FUNDED GROUP WILL PREVAIL.
The most elite Political Consulting firms have already become experts at this technique.

BOTH PARTIES ARE NOW BUSY CREATING LARGE FAKE INFO LABS FOR 2020.

So…..I hope that all of the ‘dramatic indictments’ and
‘outrageous’ name calling has made everyone feel good.

The joke will be on all of us when China and Russia take over.

Eventually…….Few ordinary Americans will know what is
    ‘true’, ‘false’, right, or wrong.

This is far bigger than you think.
It has NOTHING to do with being Liberal or Conservative.

It will simply be a sad ending to a once great Country.
    ———
    VERY well stated, Mr. Cooz!

While I see MANY more examples of FAKE NEWS coming from the left (that’s just me, of course), it’s truly an American problem now on BOTH sides of the aisle. If we don’t nip this mess in the bud, it really will be the end of America as we know it.

    • David says:

Where is the source for this? That’s one of the first things I look for.
No source, means questionable info at best, and it’s possibly fake. there is No way to confirm or deny the plausibility.

Anyways, no sense in spouting out lies unless You have a source. I was incorrectly accused of being played by fake news, and I provided the source, said it was only one source so far, then 2, mentioned their names, and explained I was awaiting the word from Gase.

If I’m held to bs standards, then I should at the least ask for reasonable ones, like sources.

From now on, I expect to see sourced comments , and if I don’t like the source, or it’s conveniently left out , I will be sure to reply my answer with an asterisk only.

Sucks when I hold people to standards they ask of Me, huh?

    • David says:

      * citation needed , No source provided yet

    • David says:

MF, questions for ya. You claim fake news coming from the left is a problem, with no viable source, but not from the right, middle, or White House?

      • Cooz says:

        David and MF….

Fake News is now coming from everywhere.

The ‘playbook’ for both DEMOCRATS and REPUBLICANS is, and has always been, 99 percent the same…….because voters are motivated by the same ‘core elements’ REGARDLESS what their politics happen to be.

Highly paid political consulting firms have simply added large-scale Fake News labs to their arsenal.

Like other manipulative tactics….. fake news refine the motivational tool of ‘OUTRAGE’.

This is what is being done to you.

If you don’t believe me…… then consider that the people who live in Swing States ALWAYS get bombarded with massive amount of negative ads during the last two months of each election.
While most of us wish that candidates would tell us about their own merits, rather than fill our airwaves with trash about their
opponents, this horrible tactic is not going to stop… BECAUSE IT WORKS.

The only difference now is that there are many more ways to reach people on social media — and most of them are anonymous and deceitful.
This tactic was once reserved for only dictatorships and military efforts in other countries. But thanks to our own technology, we have discovered that most Americans are pleased to accept all of what they are told as long as it agrees with what they believe.

It is the beginning of the end.

There is no actual debate taking place because the two sides are too busy throwing half true accusations and insults at each other.
…and that just makes each side more angry.

        Sounds familiar?

        • Tim Knight says:

It’s an establishment duopoly system. It’s basically a fraud.

        • David says:

agreed there is no real debate, but the fake news isnt the problem. It’s self censoring that is the problem. Example if You ONLY read National Enquirer, the epitome of fake news supermarket tabloid, then You are cheating Your own knowledge and ability to debate.

The problem I have with the term fake news, is when liars use it to justify their crimes or lies .
Fake news isn’t a real big problem until You weaponize it, that is essentially creating fake news to disparage real news. When A pathological lying president yells fake news 365 days a year, it’s to disguise the truth of what’s going on, and to eliminate or weaken the first amendment. That’s unconstitutional, and people need to cut through the presidents BS, and figure out WHY he is in full blown cover his ass with lies daily.

A man doing a good job, doesn’t need to make excuses and lies about it. The work speaks for itself. A man doing a great job, NEVER has to brag and pat himself on the back, because everyone notices. If Cutler tossed 20 touchdowns in the super bowl and wins it, WE will notice that, lol

This is millions of times worse than a journalistic error that gets corrected IMO. It’s an attempt to portray his personal lies as the ONLY truth out there, and the next step is total government propaganda, and journalists are jailed and killed.
This is how it is in Russia, they don’t have a constitution like We do protecting citizens rights

          • Cooz says:

            David,

You are referring to multiple issues and EACH threatens the country in a big way.

To build on your point…..Fake News can change a population’s collective perception of reality. Dictatorships and Military organizations have used this technique for hundreds of years.

            Some Examples are:
the ‘Tokyo Rose’ woman who would broadcast in English to taunt US Troops during WW2…. and Our own (US) propaganda Campaign against the North Vietnamese in the 60’s.

The Solviet Union (now called Russia) still uses the TASS News agency inside it’s own country to shape the opinions and behavior of it’s own citizens.

As I’ve mentioned…. technology has exasperated the problem because you can basically automate the mass publishing of bullshit (in different forms) across social media.

“Self Censoring”, as you know, is the result of people wishing to stay in their comfort zone
and fooling themselves into believing that all opinions from ‘outside’ political ideologies are useless. It has lead to two set of ‘facts’ for each issue and nothing that people can use to solve the actual problem.

Our current President has chosen you embrace this technique in order to tell everyone WHAT HE WANTS THEM TO HEAR. (…and to only talk to folks who want to hear it.)

What bothers me the most…. is that all future Presidents will now use ‘some form’ of this tactic (in a much classier way) to get their message across. Sadly it will only fill our Media Sphere with more negativity.

They will do this because Trump has proven that it works.

Brah, it’s all good. The Yahoo report was FALSE, even if in retrospect they seemed to be correct. Adam Gase personally slammed the report, being he had not yet even spoken to Cutler… much less the details of $$$ and years.

What Yahoo did was FAKE NEWS and every Phin fan on Twitter called them out after Gase addressed the matter publicly on Saturday afternoon.

I just saw Cutler’s first presser since becoming a Phin a second ago, and he acknowledged that there was NO convo with him and Gase before the Yahoo report came out Saturday morning.

If you truly think that Adam Gase is a liar, I’m not sure what to tell ya. Even the rest of the media was calling BULLSHIT on Yahoo’s FAKE NEWS of and on Saturday morning being it couldn’t be “sourced”.

    • David says:

You must be referring a different Yahoo article than I used, because the article I posted, never mentioned Gase at all.

      • Marinofan13 says:

THEREIN LIES THE PROBLEM!!! The bloody Yahoo report was UN-SOURCED and they LIED! It took Gase to shoot the report down as a LIE on Saturday afternoon!!!

Gase hadn’t even spoken to Cutler!!! SMMFH

        • David says:

But It never mentioned Gase, period! Just gave the source Yahoo Sports and mentioned the 1 year contract for 13 mil. I don’t know why the confusion, lol

Do me a favor brah? Let’s forget the Yahoo Sports article together, I need to catch up to You, lol jk ?

        • Cooz says:

          “The bloody Yahoo report”

Who knew that MF13 was British?!?!

          LOL

      • David says:

Also, I have no reason to suspect Gase is dishonest, he seems like an upstanding guy IMO 🙂

  7. Cooz says:

I didn’t know that Cutler recently had Labrium surgery?!?

That makes me worry (a little) if he can hold up for the whole season.

    * labrum surgery

  9. Marinofan13 says:

    Cooz,

I don’t think Cutler’s labrum surgery is anything to be concerned about… it’s not as though our brass was unaware and overlooked as much. He should be just fine.

    • Cooz says:

I hope so too………..and I’m also sure that Gase will take the correct precautions after several months of inactivity.

Obviously, Cutler won’t play against Atlanta on Thursday.

      • Tim Knight says:

Cutler was cleared in March to play again.

        • Cooz says:

          Good.

I’m sure he’ll be fine….it was just a minor worry about a ‘medical cleanup’ procedure on throwing shoulder.

We are just asking him to perform well for a year.

    I re-posted this from above…

When we were kids we were thankful that we had not been born into a country like that.

    S0ooooo….here is the irony:

“Self Censoring”, as you know, is the result of people wishing to stay in their comfort zone and fooling themselves into believing that all opinions from ‘outside’ political ideologies are useless. It has lead to two set of ‘facts’ for each issue and nothing that people can use to solve the actual problem.

  11. Tim Knight says:

    Cooz, same here.

You know what, the media loves to post pics of Cutler looking annoyed or disinterested when there are plenty of him smiling and having fun. So FLA media already doing it. It’s kind of fucked up.

I remember hearing maybe back in May when OTAs were starting and football was being discussed again, Mike Francesa said he thought Cutler was one of those guys where the media and public make him out to be something he’s not. The guy has a ton of talent, he can make every throw and he can tear you apart. Kind of the way people treat Tony Romo but even worse.

It would be easy to post pics of Gase looking annoyed but he’s getting some love. It’s an example of how the media can sway public opinion. Don’t be influenced by it, do your own research. It’s out there to make a much more informed opinion on your own. There is a lot of crap out there.
